June is PRIDE monthA month dedicated to raising awareness about the challenges and ongoing discrimination that 2SLGBTIQ+ folks still encounter.  Lakeview will host a Pride service on Sunday June 12th.  Our Guest Preacher, Michael Hammon, will share his presentation, “This Little Light of Mine” - about growing up gay in the church.  Michael wrote this performance piece more than twenty years ago and it is still relevant today.  We are privileged to have Michael present it to us and are also pleased to have the Pride Choir join our Sunday service.

The Pride Parade was born as a protest to commemorate the Stonewall Riots, which began in the early hours of June 28, 1969, after police raided the Stonewall Inn bar in New York City. You are invited to walk with Pastor Carla and others from the United, Lutheran and Anglican churches in the Regina Pride Parade on Saturday June 11th.  We will meet at Knox Met United church at 9:30am to make posters and gather.

If walking along is not possible, come watch the parade and be part of the change that is necessary so our 2SLGTBIQ+ siblings, children, grandparents and grandchildren are fully accepted and welcomed in all our communities.
