It is Advent…..

Advent is the four weeks leading up to Christmas and it is a time of reflection, preparation for Jesus birth, and of great hope. It can seem the Advent season is a period of busyness, spending, baking, preparation and shopping out of obligation.

Into all this busyness, are we able to recognize that the season of Advent is about God breaking into our lives…do we recognize God’s presence in our lives?

This Advent Season is about Christmas making a difference in our lives.

This season we can make a difference by our decisions and actions.

Hope can live through you. I am looking forward to spending Advent with you!!

Sunday Nov. 27th is the first Sunday in Advent, you will notice the Sanctuary is now accented with the colour of Blue.

Blue is the colour of Advent, a colour that marks the season as one of anticipation, waiting and expectation.

Sunday, Dec. 4th is a service of Lessons and Carols. Come and sing all your favourites with Rev. Cheryl Toth .

Sunday, Dec. 11th is Advent 3 and continuation of the season of Advent with the words from John the Baptist.

Sunday, Dec. 18th is a treat – our Sunday School is presenting their Christmas Pageant, “A Home for Lucky”.

This year Lakeview will offer two Christmas Eve Services - Family service at 4:00 and Candlelight Service with communion at 7:00. Please note that there is NO Service on Sunday Dec. 25th or Sunday Jan 1.

The Christmas Season can also be a difficult season for many. If you have had someone die this past year or in the recent past, the approaching season can be a stark reminder of the pain of separation that death brings.   If marriages or relationship have broken down, Christmas can also be difficult time.  Quiet Christmas Candlelight Services are in place to help deal with the contradictions of this season of Hope, Joy, Love and Peace, when pain and grief are filling your heart.   A  Quiet Christmas Candlelight service is scheduled for Tuesday,  Dec. 13th at 7:00 p.m. here at Lakeview United  or at the Regina Funeral Home on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2:00 p.m.

Many families have difficulties being together and news that a family member is coming to town can bring anxiety! Please know that I am available anytime to listen and help deal with these types of situations. Call or email me at revcarla@sasktel.net

I wish you a Blessed Advent Season and a Joyous Christmas.

Pastor Carla

Wishing you Many Advent Blessings
