Congratulations on your forthcoming marriage. We welcome the opportunity to celebrate your commitment of marriage within the Christian community of Lakeview United Church. Our worship centre, with its long centre aisle and contemporary stained glass windows, provides a beautiful setting for a wedding ceremony.

Marriage

We see people as unique, loved creations of God and welcome all people to the full life of Christian community, including marriage. We believe God intends loving relationships to be faithful, responsible, just, healing, and sustaining of the couple and those around them, and that such relationships require preparation and nurture.

The United Church celebrates the marriage of:

  • all people who believe in Jesus Christ and want to live faithful to his way
  • same-sex couples
  • previously divorced people
  • couples of different religions

Booking the Church

We recommend booking the church and a minister as far in advance as possible. You may do this by contacting the church office (306.586.7844) or email her here.  A deposit of $300.00 will be required at the time of booking.

Meeting with the Minister

Once your booking has been confirmed, you will require two or three meetings with the officiating minister. These meetings provide the opportunity for you to get to know the minister better and to plan your wedding ceremony.

Marriage Preparation

We strongly recommend the completion of an approved marriage preparation course well in advance of the wedding date. These courses help you build and strengthen the foundation of a happy and healthy marriage. Please contact the church office for more information. (306.586.7844)

Documents

In the province of Saskatchewan you will need a valid  marriage licence. This may be obtained from jewellery stores and bridal boutiques and is valid for three months. A marriage certificate is provided to you by the church on your wedding day.

A certificate issued by the Government of Saskatchewan is also available, for a fee, from Vital Statistics at the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health.

Rehearsal

Because the rehearsal provides an opportunity to become familiar with the church setting and the format for the ceremony, it is helpful if all those directly involved in the service are present. The rehearsal  is usually held one or two days prior to the wedding.

Wedding Ceremony

The minister has a selection of wedding prayers and vows available to assist you in planning a wedding ceremony that is meaningful and best expresses your commitment to one another. The church has a pipe organ and organist  and grand piano available in the sanctuary. The church also has a sound system for recorded music. Selections should be tasteful and appropriate.

Printed Programs

Wedding programs are the responsibility of the wedding couple. Information regarding the order of the service for the wedding ceremony may be obtained from the minister.

Wedding Fee

We ask that you submit the wedding fee and your marriage license to the church office at least one week prior to the wedding. $850.00 (includes $300.00 deposit)
