Lakeview welcomes Kim Slack - our newest community partner! Kim is a wonderful and caring counsellor with an office upstairs.

About Kim

Hello my name is Kim Slack, I am a wife, mother and grandmother. In my professional life, I am a registered Social Worker with SASW.  I am of Metis decent and proud to support people in Treaty 4 Territory and in the Homeland of the Metis.  I obtained my social work degree from the University of Regina. I took majority of my classes at the First Nations University in Saskatoon where I was privileged to learn from Indigenous instructors and witness fellow student’s stories. I am committed to providing current counselling practices by investing in my capabilities through continuous education.  My most recent continuing studies include Grief Educator Certificate from David Kessler, Coaching Certificate from International Coaching Federation, Seniors Mental Health First Aide Certificate, Facilitator Six Week Loss Through Death Certificate, Sand Play Therapy Certificate and Helping Anxious Kids Certificate.

During my career, I have been employed by the Saskatchewan Health Authority as a Medical Social Worker at RUH, RGH and at Alvin Buckwold Child Development Centre as well as an Assessor/Coordinator with Home Care.  I have worked in community agencies such as the Alzheimer Society as Client Services Team Manager and Catholic Family Services as Intake Coordinator and Counsellor.  I have worked in every aspect of one’s life from supporting mothers and unborn children to those taking their last breath.

My focus areas for counselling include grief counselling, generalized anxiety and depression.  I am passionate about working with caregivers who’s loved ones are experiencing Alzheimer/Dementia.  I extend support beyond the client to include their families, by guiding them through challenges of caregiving and help navigate through difficult situations by fostering strong connections with local agencies.

I look forward to meeting you and working as a community partner.

Kind Regards,

Kim Slack
