Please see the following message from our Lakeview Visionary Board Treasurer, Ron Hopkinson:

Special Appeal

I am writing to you about an emergency repair we required for the roof of the sanctuary. A few weeks ago, Gord Nylen, our building manager, noticed a spongy area on the sanctuary roof near the southwest corner. More recently, he found a similar condition in both east corners. This indicated that there was water under the protective foam layer that we had installed a decade ago.

We received a quote from Superior Spray Foam (SSF) with a couple of options to undertake the repair. We followed up with a conversation with SSF to clarify exactly what would be done. Then we chose the option which would best meet our needs and provide a limited warranty. We engaged SSF to repair the problem areas and apply a new coat of foam over the entire sanctuary roof and a new UV coating to protect the foam from the sun’s ultraviolet light. The cost of this repair with taxes came to $41K.

We have sufficient funds to pay for the project but it will leave our bank account severely depleted at a time when we are trying attract a new minister. I am appealing to you to make a special donation over and above your regular support for the ongoing work of the church. We have a donor who will match your donation dollar for dollar up to $20,000 up to December 31, 2025. Thus a donation of say $100 will be matched so the impact will be $200 toward our goal of replacing the funds needed for this repair.

You can donate via cheque or e-transfer (lakeviewuc@sasktel.net) – just make sure you mark your donation as special appeal.

If we raise more than is needed for the roof, we will allocate those funds to replacing the carpet in the Fellowship Hall with vinyl tile or linoleum at a cost of up to $17K. We had been planning to make an appeal for this project but the roof repair took precedence. However the carpet is in poor shape and the tile flooring would be more versatile for the church and several of our user groups (Rise & Shine preschool, Phoenix Baton, Regina Lyric Musical Theatre and others) who make significant use of this space.

Thank you for your generosity. I will keep you informed of our progress toward our goal.
